Your Smartphone Affects Your Cognitive Capacity

Have you ever wondered how your smartphone affects your cognitive capacity?

In our digitally distracted world, many teenagers and children now have “smartphones” and “smartwatches”, sometimes even before they learn to read and write!

How does this impact their ability to focus and learn at school or home?

Researchers at the University of Texas Austin conducted a study with 800 people and found that the “mere presence” of your smartphone can reduce your cognitive capacity!

If the phone is in another room, it's much better than if it's in the same room or in a bag in the same room.

We've noticed many high school students are suffering from digital addiction and the inability to focus, much more than 10 years ago.

As counselors, teachers, and mentors, we have a responsibility to guide students in making positive life choices that will serve their overall health and well-being and help them focus and learn so their future is bright.

If you know any children or teenagers with these devices, help them learn practical skills to reduce the harm caused by these devices!
