The New, Fully Digital SAT

The College Board recently announced that the SAT will be going fully digital in order to meet the changing needs of students and educators. The switch to digital will happen in the spring of 2023 for international students and in the spring of 2024 for US students.

What does this mean for you?

• The test will now take two hours instead of three hours

• It will feature shorter reading sections

• Students will be permitted to use a built-in graphing calculator for the entire math section

• There will be a reference sheet for math formulas

• Tests will be scored much faster, in a matter of days instead of weeks

• Each student will see a different version of the SAT during testing

• There will be a way to mark questions to review or finish later

• There will be an optional countdown clock at the top of the test screen

There are some important aspects of the SAT that will stay the same. Notably, the test will still be scored on a 1600 scale, and the test will still be taken at schools and test centers.

Boosting your SAT score by a few points can make all the difference in helping you get into a top college, as well as win scholarships worth thousands of dollars.
