How to Make a College List

Nov 06, 2024

Are you a junior or senior applying to college soon?

If so, what have you done to make sure your college list is balanced and has enough safety, target, and reach schools?

And how many universities are you applying to?

We were recently interviewed by US News for an article on "How to Make a College List"

We work with a lot of high-achieving students who apply to highly competitive universities, and that's why we recommend that students these days apply to 15-20 universities. It may seem like a lot, but we want students to have a lot of colleges to choose from at the end of the year.

This way, students will be in a better position to negotiate financial aid and choose the college that offers the "best fit".

In previous years, it was easy to tell if a college fell into the category of safety, target, or reach school. But today, it's not as clear cut. Working with an experienced college counselor can make this process easier, however.

We would love to help you with the college list building process. The more time you spend researching a college and its programs, the stronger your college list will be.
